Neck and shoulder pain
A huge proportion of the population suffers from neck and shoulder pain, caused by stress and lack of exercise in their daily activities. Stress has a negative effect on the neck and can lead to muscle tension. A tense muscle suffers from poor oxygenation, which causes pain. If the stress is not relieved, this may cause even more stress, leading to a vicious circle that can result in long-term pain in the neck and the whole shoulder region.
If you work in a sedentary job, it’s important to adapt your working environment and your lifestyle. Sitting in a healthy position, acquiring the tools you need and being active in your leisure time are basic measures for reducing the negative effects of stress and a sedentary job.
TENS gives effective pain relief for neck and shoulder pain, with no side effects. It also enhances blood circulation, which helps your neck and shoulder muscles relax. TENS is an excellent tool that you can take with you everywhere. TENS can be an effective complement to oral analgesics when the pain is at its worst, or even replace some of the pills, helping eliminate your dependency on drugs.
Below are some suggestions for how to place the electrodes for neck and shoulder pain. In general, you place them around the painful area. Use a program with high-frequency stimulation. Each session should be at least 30 minutes and can last up to several hours a day. The pain relief is usually most effective during the stimulation, but the effect can last for hours after the program finishes.
Note: People with pacemakers must not receive TENS treatment.
